Outbound student exchange programs

WEP’s high school student exchange programs are designed to fit into the Australian academic schedule and offer students between 14 and 18 years of age the opportunity to immerse themselves into a new culture. Students gain confidence, develop self-awareness and return with an increased interest and understanding of the world, positively influencing their peers and enriching their Australian school community on return.

For almost a century, student exchange programs have produced innovators, leaders and influential people across all sectors. Exchange students develop sophisticated ways of looking at the world, respect for other cultures, sensitivity to different cultural, political and economic systems and mindfulness towards the welfare of the planet and its people.

What WEP does

  • We visit schools all around Australia, both in-person and virtually, to talk to students about their student exchange options.

  • We organise regular, free information events (including online webinars, in-person information sessions and open days, and meetings with returned students) for prospective students and their families.

  • We offer special promotions and discounts to help with costs and make our programs as accessible as possible.

  • We build a rapport with the school of origin, to verify each applicant's academic background and ensure WEP and anyone involved (e.g. recommending teachers) work in synergy.

  • We provide comprehensive assistance to students and their families before, during and after the overseas program, including helping student prepare their application and referring it to the overseas host organisation.

  • We provide preparatory materials and resources to help students prepare for their program, including an in-person orientation session for students and their parents.
