On a high school exchange program to Spain you will live like a local and step into the shoes of a Spanish teenager, attending a local secondary school and living with a Spanish family who will become a home away from home. Through daily interactions with the locals, you will assimilate the Spanish ways and pace of life, form new friendships and collect a wide range of experiences.

For a shorter stay and to focus on language improvement, you can choose a language study program in Spain. The Spanish education system

In Spain, students beging their education journey at the age of 6 with primary school, which lasts 6 years. They then progress to lower secondary school for another 4 years, and finish off with 2 years of upper seconday school. During their final two years of school (Bachillerato), students focus on their chosen areas of academic interest: scientific/technologic, humanities/literature, arts, or business/social studies.

Higher education in Spain includes three cycles: Grado (usually 4 years), Master (1 or 2 years) and Doctorado. There are public and private universities, as well as vocational schools and higher education providers dedicated to the arts.

To participante in a high school exchange program to Spain, you need to be between 15 and 18 years old on departure, have a C grade average, be a non-smoker, and have positive personal traits, such as being motivated, curious, tolerant, open and adaptable. You also need to be physically and emotionally healthy - please discuss any specific conditions or requirements with WEP in advance.

For a Language Study program in Spain, you simply need to be between over 16 years old.

Our high school exchange programs in Spain can be of different durations: short-term (under 90 days), an academic semester or an academic year. The exact duration depends on the departure period - please contact WEP for more information.

Language Study programs in Spain have a duration of minimum 2 weeks, up to 52 weeks. You can choose the duration that suits you best.

To decide which program duration is best for you, you should reflect on what you would like to achieve through the program, and discuss your preferences with your family to make sure they are on board. If you're a high school student, you should also speak to your school to ensure that you understand their policy regarding re-integrating into Australian schooling (if you're going to be missing a significant amount of school) and any requirements to repeat school back home.
