The Danish education system
Education in Denmark starts with primary school (Grundskole/Folkeskole) at the age of 6, for 10 whole years. The last year is often dedicated to helping students prepare for secondary school, or Gymnasium. At the end of Gymnasium, students sit the Studentereksamen, the high school graduation diploma.
Tertiary education in Denmark can consist of three type of pathways: university, college and professional institutions or academies. Many free programs and scholarships are available to keep the costs down.
