Poland – Europe’s hidden gem…

Are you looking to spend your exchange in a place a little bit quirky and unique, not yet fully soaked in the mainstream culture? Poland might be just the right choice for you.

Poland is famous for its abundance of historic sites and natural wonders, in fact, Poland is home to 14 United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage sites. In the recent couple of decades Poland has witnessed an extraordinary level of economic growth, becoming a very attractive tourist destination and a place for international corporations to flourish. So better come to Poland QUICKLY, whilst it’s still a little bit “raw”.

Immerse yourself in Poland’s rich folklore, learn to live in line with the natural rhythm of four seasons and cultural events. Poles are renowned for their skills at celebration, which is reflected in their calendar – even small events are often turned into a special occasion. A historical mixture of culture and ideology has paved the way for the development of a diverse array of traditions and cultural practices in Poland. Smingus Dyngus for example, a tradition dating back to the 15th Century, sees Poles drenching their unsuspecting relatives and friends with water. Those who end up wet are blessed with good fortune, ensuring a soaking good time for exchange students.

When invited to visit someone’s home, be sure not to eat much beforehand. ‘A guest in the home is God in the home’, reads an old Polish proverb. Most Poles take this idea quite seriously and when stepping over a Polish threshold you’re in for some heavenly treatment. You too can experience this Polish hospitality as you embark on your very own WEP student exchange in Poland!

Whether it’s beaches, mountains, ancient forests or bustling cities that are your thing – Poland’s got it all! Does Poland sound like the perfect destination for you to begin your own adventure? If so, don’t stop reading here! Keep reading below for more information on what life might be like for you during your time in Poland.
