Estonia is the smallest and northernmost of the Baltic countries, which are a group of three countries located east of the Baltic Sea: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Following the break-up of the Soviet Union, Estonia obtained its independence in 1991. The country joined the European Union in 2004 and adopted the 'euro' as its currency in 2011.
By the sea
With nearly 4,000 kilometers of coastline, Estonia is a country largely open to the Baltic Sea! It has countless beautiful beaches, such as the popular Pärnu Beach, the summer capital of Estonia.
A rich history
Estonia has been under foreign domination for a very long time: Germans, Danes, Swedes and Soviets, they have all left their mark in Estonia, making this small country a unique and unmissable cultural destination!
The "Singing Nation"
The Estonian Song Festival is one of the largest amateur song festivals in the world, taking place every five years in Estonia and recognised as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO.
Wide open spaces
Estonia is one of the least densely populated countries in Europe, with open spaces and plenty of nature. Lahemaa National Park is a compendium of all the beautiful Estonian landscapes!
