In Mexico the school year runs from September to June, with students attending class between 8am - 2pm. 'High school' in Mexico consists of two levels; secondary school and prep school. Secondary school is for students in years 7-9 and prep school is for students in years 10-12.
There is a wide range of subjects and electives students can choose and generally school uniforms are compulsory, but can vary depending on the school.
The official language of Mexico is Spanish, one of the easiest to learn and most commonly spoken languages in the world! Spanish is also spoken in four other WEP destinations; Spain, Chile, Argentina and Ecuador.
How hard is it to learn Spanish in Australia? MODERATE. 23-24 weeks OR 575-600 class hours are required to become proficient in Spanish. Fast-track your language studies on exchange!
Costal areas in Mexico experience a hot and humid climate, and inland areas enjoy a warm climate, with spring-like conditions year round. The hottest months are April and May in the South, and July to September on the Pacific Coast. The coolest months vary by region but are generally December - February.
Depending on daylight saving, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane are between 15 to 16 hours ahead of Mexico.
One year Spanish study at the time of application, plus ongoing study. An intensive course may suffice.
