How Can I Be Involved?
There is more to WEP student exchange programs than being an exchange student or hosting an international student!
WEP coordinators are an invaluable and a highly appreciated part of the student exchange experience. Their role is multifaceted and includes:
- Locating and screening host families
- Providing support to host families and exchange students
- Monitoring student adjustment and assimilation into their Australian families and schools
- Interviewing outbound students
While coordinators are reimbursed for expenses, being a part of the lives of international students and their generous, warm-hearted, volunteer host families is significantly more rewarding.
Acting as a WEP coordinator is worthwhile because it’s educational and fun!
School presentations, talking to prospective students and parents, helping out at departure orientation sessions and WEP information nights are just some of the ways returned students stay in touch with WEP and help promote student exchange.
