Estonia is the smallest and northernmost of the Baltic countries, which are a group of three countries located east of the Baltic Sea: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
European Union
Following the break-up of the Soviet Union, Estonia obtained its independence in 1991. The country joined the European Union in 2004 and adopted the 'euro' as its currency in 2011.
By the sea
With nearly 4,000 kilometers of coastline, Estonia is a country largely open to the Baltic Sea! It has countless beautiful beaches, such as the popular Pärnu Beach, the summer capital of Estonia.
