Intensive+ course

The FAQs for this type of program are listed below.

Rapid language progress! Your language teacher(s) will leave you no choice but to throw yourself into the local language, guaranteeing faster results. Other advantages include the intensity and degree of customisation available for your language course: lessons can be in a group setting or one-on-one, intensive, semi-intensive or standard. You will be able to discuss your study path and goals with your teacher(s).

You won't be expected to perform any duties, but as a general rule of thumb, we recommend offering to contribute with small jobs such as meals preparation.

Your teacher will keep you up-to-date with any additional activities, outings, or optional excursions available to you.

Host families can come in all shapes and size and we cannot guarantee the presence of other children/people your own age in the family. Any preferences can be expressed and will be considered, however no promises can be made.

Generally speaking, we recommend booking your program as far in advance as possible. Assuming you already have a valid Australian passport (with at least 6 months' validity after your scheduled return to Australia), it is advisable to book at least 10 weeks prior to the program start date, to ensure sufficient time to complete any necessary processes or paperwork (e.g. obtaining a visa if required, organising travel insurance, etc.) and to avoid costly last-minute airfares.

On average, please make sure you have access to at least $180-300 per week. The amount you will spend largely depends on the program inclusions you have selected (e.g. meals) and on factors such as: addional activities/excursions you may choose to do, shopping for clothes/toiletries/souvenirs, phone calls and data, local transport, social outings, etc.

Most programs under 12 weeks either require you to obtain an e-visitor or tourist visa through a simple process, or no visa at all. Longer programs generally require a visa, e.g. in South Korea a Working Holiday Visa is required for programs over 12 weeks in duration.

Intensive courses include multiple classes per week and, besides general Spanish language classes, usually focus on specific aspects: comprehension, listening, vocabulary...

Host families usually live in the areas surrounding the city centre and in some cases may be located up to 60 minutes away (for European destinations) or up to 90 minutes away (for non-European destinations). Especially in large metropolitan areas, traffic must also be factored in, as this could further extend your travelling time.

Host family placements cannot be rejected by participants unless there are other serious concerns, which will be considered on a case by case basis.

Combining your language course with another WEP program may be possible, depending on the duration of your chosen program and any related visa considerations. Please chat to us to discuss which options may be available.

Depending on the duration of your chosen program and the duration of your visa (including any visa restrictions), you may or may not be able to stay on for longer. You will need to make sure you do not breach your visa conditions. Please chat to WEP if you intend to continue travelling after the end of your Language Study program.

Provided your visa conditions/validity allow it, and that your language school and accommodation have availability, it may be possible to extend your program once overseas. Please contact WEP at least 3 weeks prior to the scheduled end of your program to discuss any extension opportunities.

Depending on the school, most courses are offered from beginner level to advanced. In some schools, beginner courses start each week; in others, they may start on specific dates throughout the year. Please check the relevant website page and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!

Yes, your school will issue a certificate indicating the level of language proficiency you have reached, provided you have attended at least 85% of the classes.

Private lessons

The FAQs for this type of program are listed below.

High School Programs (Student Exchange and Study Abroad): You and a friend can apply for the same program, but you are unlikely to be placed in the same area or host community (if you both pick the same school as part of a Study Abroad program, then you will be in the same area). Two students of the same nationality are also never placed in the same host family. An exchange is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the only way to reap its many rewards, is to fully immerse yourself in a new culture and put your energy into forming new friendships in the host community.

Language Study Programs: it is possible for friends to participate together if you book the same program, at the same school, in the same overseas destination. Depending on your desired accommodation option and the school's availability, sharing the same accommodation may or may not be possible. Please chat to us to discuss further.
