The most authentic way to experience Korean culture and language
Study Korean in eclectic South Korea
A language course in South Korea is bound to be a multi-faceted experience, reflecting the country's quest for balance between its secular traditions and the ultra-modern outlook of its metropolises.
Harmony between individuals and respect for elders are among the principle tenets of South Korean society, traditionally based on Confucianism. At the same time, you'll be impressed by the country's technological advancement, economic success and the overwhelming impact of Korea's modern pop culture, cinema and gastronomy on the world.
Far from being just a language course, your program will be a deep-dive into Korea's culture and lifestyle - a unique occasion to improve your skills by interacting with the locals and with other people learning Korean.

FAQ
We recommend booking your program as far in advance as possible. Assuming you already have a valid Australian passport (with at least 6 months' validity after your scheduled return to Australia), it is advisable to book at least 10 weeks prior to the program start date, to ensure sufficient time to complete any necessary processes and paperwork (e.g. obtaining a visa if required, organising travel insurance, etc.) and to avoid costly last-minute airfares.
Yes, most of our partner schools offer Standard Courses beginning every week. Some Course + Activity programs, instead, are only available at specific times of the year (e.g. July or December). You will find a list of all available departures, as well as a list of school holidays and closures, on each specific school page.
As soon as you arrive, you will be asked to do a language test to help the teachers assess your current language level and skills. You will then be included in the most suitable class to you, with other students who have similar language competencies to yours.
Intensive courses include a higher number of classes per week. In addition to generic language classes, usually intensive courses delve into specific aspects: comprehension, listening, vocabulary...
During the year, language classes are usually during the morning, with afternoons dedicated to activities and/or additional classes if you have chosen an intensive course. However, this is not an absolute guarantee. Especially during the June-August period (high season), you may well be added to a class that has regular lessons in the afternoon.
Yes, your school will issue a certificate indicating the level of language proficiency you have reached, provided you have attended at least 85% of the classes. To obtain a formal language certification (e.g. DELF, DELE...), you will need to follow a specific preparatory course; please discuss with WEP.
On average, please make sure you have access to at least AUD $200-350 per week. The amount you will spend largely depends on the program inclusions you have selected (e.g. meals) and on factors such as addional activities/excursions you may choose to do, shopping for clothes/toiletries/souvenirs, phone calls and data, local transport, social outings, etc.
Host families usually live in the areas surrounding the city centre, and in some cases may be located up to 60 minutes away (for European destinations) or up to 90 minutes away (for non-European destinations). Especially in large metropolitan areas, traffic must also be factored in, as this could further extend your travelling time.
Typically, you will receive your homestay family's details two weeks prior to your program start date. However, during the high season (June-August), homestay family information may only become available a few days before the beginning of your program.
Provided your visa conditions/validity allow it, and that your language school and accommodation have availability, it may be possible to extend your program once overseas. Please contact WEP as soon as possible, and at least 3 weeks prior to the scheduled end date of your program, to discuss any extension opportunities.
