World Education Program (WEP) Australia is a not-for-profit student exchange organisation registered with the education departments in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. We send high school students to over 25 countries for short term, semester and year-long programs. While on exchange, students attend school full-time and live with a volunteer host family. WEP’s academic exchange programs are designed to fit into the Australian academic schedule and offer students between 14 and 18 years of age the opportunity to immerse themselves into a new culture. Students gain confidence, develop self-awareness and return with an increased interest and understanding of the world.
For almost a century, student exchange programs have produced innovators, leaders and influential people across all sectors. Exchange students develop sophisticated ways of looking at the world, respect for other cultures, sensitivity to different cultural, political and economic systems and mindfulness towards the welfare of the planet and its people.
Student Exchange Presentations
WEP visits schools all over Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales to chat to students about their student exchange options. As many students are unaware of student exchange and its benefits, we aim to answer the following questions:
- What is student exchange?
- What are the benefits of student exchange?
- What is the importance of learning a second language?
- What does it mean to attend school overseas and live with a host family?

School Language Assistants Program
The School Language Assistants Program (SLAP) is an approved program under the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection, that seeks to provide Australian schools with the opportunity of gaining a linguistic and cultural resource person from overseas for up to 12 months. Australian schools invite young people, who intend to pursue a career in teaching, to assist qualified Australian teachers in contemporary linguistic and cultural classroom activities and instruction. This valuable cultural exchange opportunity is offered to host schools for only a limited financial commitment and responsibility. For more information, please click here.
