Experience A Taste Of Scandinavia…
There’s no wonder that Denmark is known to have the “happiest citizens in the world”, in a country that has a perfect balance of natural beauty and electric city life. In fact, the capital city ‘Copenhagen’, was recently nominated for two consecutive years as the “most liveable city in the world” by Monocle (a renowned global magazine). In only a matter of months, you could be embarking on your own adventure to study in Denmark on your very own WEP student exchange program!
The southern-most of the Nordic countries, the Kingdom of Denmark enjoys a healthy, tongue-in-cheek rivalry with its Scandinavian neighbours, Sweden and Norway. When you arrive in Denmark, one of the first things you will notice is the shear number of bicycles. Danish cities are ranked as some of the most bicycle-friendly in the world, with comprehensive bicycle lane systems in most cities.
The stunning Øresund Bridge links the capital, Copenhagen, with the Swedish city of Malmö. At 7845 metres, the bridge is the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe. The interconnected nature of Denmark is reflected in its people, who are resourceful, open and loving. Just ask Aussie Mary Donaldson, who recently became the Crown Princess of Denmark!
Being a foreigner is Denmark will probably mean that you will need to make the first move to say hello. To some travellers, Danes can seem a bit distant, however you will soon realise that it is their culture not to intrude on other peoples personal space. After realising this simple cultural distinction, you will discover that most Danes are very approachable, friendly and helpful!
