People of all ages seek adventure and challenges. Some read adventure fiction that may include the works of John Marsden, Jeffrey Archer and Matthew Reilly. Others read science fiction from authors like Isaac Asimov and Madeline L’Engle or fantasy stories such as Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.

WEP exchange student in Australia - written July 2005

Jenny Schank from Luxembourg

I like thinking of exchange as 'building a bridge' (which wasn't influenced by the Sydney Harbour Bridge at all...). When you start, all you have for building is the material you brought from home. That's it. That and an open heart, a little bit of courage, trust and willingness for adventures.

The actual process of building starts with the support of your family and friends, as it is them who are the posts of your bridge in the world you know. They understand that it has to be a one-person-bridge, because this is something you want to do only for yourself.
